The Central Board of Secondary Education was set up to achieve the objectives of prescribing conditions of examinations and conducting public examinations at the end of Class X and XII , granting qualifying certificates to successful candidates of the affiliated schools, fulfilling the educational requirements of those students whose parents were employed in transferable jobs, prescribing and updating the course of instructions of examinations, affiliating institutions for the purpose of examination and raising the academic standards of the country. The prime focus of the Board is on Innovations in teaching-learning methodologies by devising student-friendly and student-centered paradigms. The students of high school classes belong to the age group of 14 to 16. The teaching and learning gather momentum as the student approaches his matriculation examinations which are a major turning point in the formal education of an average Indian. At this time, all subjects, including science and maths, are considered equally important and special coaching is given in subjects in which the students are weak.
